My First Convention, or, alternatively, Banana (Part 2)

On to Saturday then! Still lots of images. I give fair warning.

Part 1

Saturday

9:00AM: By this time, we'd learned our lesson and plunked ourselves down in the line waiting for the Dealers Room to open. More money sacrificed to the otaku cause. One point of interest was getting to meet Fred Gallagher of Megatokyo. I forgot my name when he asked me. ^^;; The other point of interest was The Indigo's gig at the Geneon booth. This time pictures were allowed and yet I still managed to screw them up like the sad person I am.

Miki and Yuichi at it again!

We also bought their CD, which we were able to get autographed!

Wheeeeeeeee. ...Stalkers. -___-;

1:30PM: After lunch, we checked out Artists Alley. The booth for a sho-ai webcomic I like was being watched by a Howl cosplayer. I just thought that to be terribly hilarious. I picked up some great stuff from some other booths that I shall show off later.

3:00PM: Spent some time in Otacafe. Willy Wonka sang!

Hee!

4:00PM: Sat down in the line waiting for NazeNani Megatokyo to start. Wow. It was introduced by the Little Gamers creators and they were great and funny. And then Fred came out and he was great and funny and I am such a hopeless fangirl. Watch me exorcise my squee with gratuitous pic spam.

Little Gamers!

Fred wore this awesome sad-cat-ears hat. Love.

They shall be! Boo plushies are on their way!

Still Fred. Behold my 1337 picture-taking skillz.

Full-body Fred. Probably the best pic I got.

Fred on his trip to Japan, posing with some Japanese school boys. The one on the far left had his shirt unbuttoned to the mid-chest, the casanova. *g*

6:45PM: We headed over to Panel Room 2 to wait for the Geneon panel. We caught most of Manwha, Manhua, and Bandes Dessinees: Comics Around the World which was surprisingly interesting. It was nice to see a history of comics laid out for us young'uns. I didn't know about all the censorship in American comics until this panel. History rocks.

7:00PM: The first half of the Geneon panel was a Q&A session with The Indigo that ended up being great fun. Their translator was a real joker. One person asked what Miki's favorite genre of anime was and while she deliberated, the translator took the liberty to answer "Yaoi," for her. As the room erupted in laughter, he explained it to her and she was appropriately horrified. Ahahaha. The other highlight was the "Yuichi, will you be my boyfriend?" question, to which he first replied 'OK.' Then, noticing how young she looked, he made the universal gesture for getting one's hands cuffed. Lots of fun all around.

Yuichi, Miki, and the translator, who was rather handsome, if I do say so myself.

8:15PM: Dinner, then more down-time in Otacafe.

One group did Forever Love with this huge statement about hide. I haven't decided yet if it was touching or annoying.

10:30PM: Saturday Night Fan Parodies, which was pretty darn funny. We could only stay until 12, but what we saw was great. My favorites were the You're A Good Man Charlie Brown/Evangelion parallel, the 'making of a fan parody,' and [as part of a larger parody] Chanel 0, that was all ninja, all the time. Can you spot the ninjas?

Saturday's Cosplay

Sophie, Howl, and 'Markl' of Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle. I like the book best, but nothing is better then seeing any sort of Howl IN PERSON. Howl is love. XP

All the Sailor Moon cosplayers met up while we were still at lunch, but I was able to catch the tail end of the photo-op from the skywalk as we were heading back to the convention center.

XXXholic and Tsubasa Chronicle's Yuuko. So pretty.

AHHH CARDCAPTOR SAKURA'S SAKURA AND SYAORAN. Why am I such a horrible photographer? ;_;

Fye and Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicle. Love, love, love.
