Merry Christmas fishies!
Wow. Just... wow. This has been such a weird three days for me.
Christmas Eve went off without a hitch, although I felt sickly and my head was a little fuzzy. Tree decorating was weird this year. Usually it's just something fun, but I got all nostalgic doing it. Plus, I sat crammed in a pew with my parents from 11:30pm-1:15am. Why did my father feel it necessary to stick us in an available space with just room enough for two, when there were, quite obviously, THREE of us and plenty of room farther back???
Christmas was fun, although I feel very bad for my mother. I made sure to get her some cool books, but dad got her all sorts of weird things like spatulas and hideous nightgowns, one with a gigantic teddy bear holding up this horrible primrose. -_-;;; Honestly, whatever shall we do with him?
I am strangely content with what I received although I basically knew about all of it. Except for the tape. Why in the world did I get tape?
But Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell! YEY! Whenever will I find time to actually read it? And there were the mangas, Fruits Basket and D.N.Angel, which were both exceedingly good volumes. Also, there were volumes 5 and 6 of KaleidoStar, which I felt so embarrassed asking for (it's fluffy girls' anime!), but if the (male, straight) editor of Newtype is allowed to like it, then so the hell am I. *is obstinate*
Andes and a raspberry chocolate bar and Skittles gum covered all of my candy fixations… Plus I seem to have gotten a Kodak EasyShare digital camera and printer dock although the camera has yet to get delivered (despite the extra money paid for pre-Christmas delivery), which I will absolutely put to good use when(/if?) it shows up. *crosses fingers*
But the one that I've put to the most use so far, and which I have the most to say about, is obviously...
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: Extended Edition!
First things first: WHEEEEEEEEE! Second Christmas in a row to have one of these babies in the Christmas lineup and they never ceased to be utterly amazing. I've only just completed viewing all 4 DVDs and it was amazing, but also bittersweet.
There were some very fun moments of course. The highlight being when Viggo gave Billy a big wet one during the filming of Sam's wedding. Stitches, I tell you, stitches! Viggo was just plain devious and Billy was just plain hiliarious and Dom seriously did not help matters. Gotta love Dom.
But the weird thing about it is that I spent a good 50% of the time either very choked up or crying. I nearly cried for the horses! Horses, for Christ's sake! But everybody was so attached to them and Viggo was so amazing giving that one horse to Liv's stunt double! I just choked up. And then watching the wrap-ups and good-byes and Peter Jackson crying on Elijah's shoulder, giving him this fierce hug. I was crying my eyes out! And 'Into the West' gave me chills three out of the three times I heard it throughout the whole thing. That's one of the songs I want to memorize and remember for the rest of my life.
I don't know what else to say really, except that MUSE IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME, MUSICALLY-SPEAKING. Laura has given me the best Christmas present from a friend ever, with Danielle's chocolate-covered pretzel platter coming in a very, very close second because hey, chocolate and pretzels cannot be anything less than awesomeness together.
But back to Muse!
The Small Print, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, Can't Take My Eyes Off of You, Butterflies and Hurricanes, and Apocalypse Please are friggin' awesome songs. Slightly higher up than them is Sing for Absolution, which is ache-y and haunting and near perfect. But. BUT. More than any of them I cannot think of any praise worthy of Time is Running Out other than it is probably my favorite song ever.
It's bitter and hopeless and devoted and has this intense beat and weird nonsense thing after the chorus, which I can't help but fall for. I can literally feel the tension in this song, and that's just neat.
Anyway, I suppose I'm off to do... other things... or something. lol. Don't you just hate it when you can't come up with a suitable ending for your posts? Drives me crazy, it does.
