I DON'T CARE IF I'M LATE TO THE PARTY OR SOMETHING, I'M DAMN WELL GOING TO SQUEE IF I WANT TO.
OKAY, ANIME FLISTERS ( arekuru, I'M LOOKING AT YOU). I NEED YOU TO GO TO YOUR NEAREST DOWNLOADING STATIONS AND PROCURE THE FIRST TWO EPISODES OF ITAZURA NA KISS. LIKE, NOW.
Okay, I guess I should explain this a little more. This is a summary, adapted from ANN:
In the romantic comedy story, Kotoko, a high schooler in the lowly F class, finally tells a fellow senior named Naoki, an elite from A class, that she has loved him from afar since she saw him on their first day of high school. However, Naoki, a haughty "super-ikemen" (handsome male) with smarts and sports talent, rejects her offhand, saying he "doesn't like stupid girls." Fate intervenes when a mild earthquake ruins Kotoko's family house. While the house gets rebuilt, Kotoko and her dad stay at the home of her dad's childhood friend...whose son is Naoki.
But that is seriously only the half of it guys. Kotoko is cute and unassuming and everygirl, and Naoki is super cold, but there are already some pretty hilarious chinks in his armor, and KOTOKO'S FRIENDS ARE AWESOME. OMG U GAIS, KOTOKO'S GUY FRIEND, WHO IS TOTALLY UNABASHEDLY IN HEART WITH HER, SPEAKS IN KANSAI-BEN, IS CRAZY, AND SERIOUSLY COULD BE NAKATSU EXCEPT HE HAS THIS HILARIOUS YAKUZA HAIRSTYLE THAT MAKES ME TOTALLY UNABLE TO TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY, LIKE EVER. HIS NAME IS KIN-CHAN.
WATCH THIS SHOW FOR KIN-CHAN, GAIS.
Seriously, I have not had such a viscerally positive reaction to an anime in a LONG TIME. I HOPE THIS SHOW STAYS AWESOME, BECAUSE IF IT DOESN'T I WILL BE SAD AND CRUSHED.
ALSO, DUDE, I'M GONNA BE AT NYCC IN 12 HOURS. NEED TO SLEEEEP.

1) New default icon! Everybody should read Kimi ni Todoke (Reaching You). It's only on the third chapter or so, but it is lovely and hilarious. Sort of a mix of PGE/Wallflower's premise and Fruits Basket's good-heartedness.
2) It has come to pass that basically everyone I talk to about NYCC ends up deciding to go. Something about the call of the awesome. I am merely a messenger!
3) My birthday was sort of weird this year, mostly because I've been kind of down and nothing really spectacular happened to get me out of it. I will say that marathoning a bit of Oofuri with splintercat was awesome, because that is just how Oofuri and marathons are. My Domo wall calendar has Domo playing baseball for April, and I find this fitting and appropriate.
4) I played Katamari Damacy! I suck less than Akira Touya, but more than just about everyone in the real world! (This is kind of how video games and me are. I have trouble spatially coordinating myself in my own body with my own eyes. Asking me to spatially coordinate myself with little joysticks is perhaps too much to ask.) Someday I will get someone to play Kingdom Hearts I and II and the Phoenix Wright games for me, but I fear I have a long time to wait still.
5) Insert gratuitous and rather cryptic mention of Cthulhu here that really boils down to "Okay, I am totally obsessed with CUSFS."
6) My academic life still sucks. Every single class I'm taking this semester is leaving me dissatisfied for one reason or another, and yet I am still busting my butt to make B+ averages. This is new and rather unpleasant for me. :/
7) I am sort of in a yaoi/sho-ai phase right now and I think those who share this interest should run and not walk to Yamada Yugi's Darenimo Aisarenai and other works because they seriously make me incoherent with love. There's another one I know I meant to rec, but a lot of time has passed between that thought and this entry.
8) Damn you Diana! Just so everyone knows, The Big Bang Theory is awesome.
ETA: Why I shouldn't make journal entries on little sleep in the wee hours of the morning: vague descriptors ahoy! ('Kind of's and 'sort of's in this entry: 5, as well as 'basically,' 'rather,' 'something,' 'or so,' and 'for one reason or another.') | Mood awake Music History of Everything - Barenaked Ladies Tags: anime, barnard, barnard is the school of fandom, games, holiday, idk my bff saezutte, kimi ni todoke, manga, nycc, oofuri, school, tv, yaoi

Okay, so... cons.
I just found out that there's a sci-fi con at Stony Brook University the weekend of my birthday (April 4-6). And since it's my birthday...
BUT! New York Comic Con is only 2 weeks later! And NYCC is ostensibly a bigger deal, and also is in Manhattan. Caitlin, is CUSFS or the anime club doing anything for this? I would think so, but since I have exiled myself from the club circuit, I must rely on your information.
Having just taken a look at the NYCC front page with Neil Gaiman staring right at me, and having recently found out that Jaida is going to be a guest, I think it's safe to say I'll spend any birthday money there. Front page also says I must register by March 13 if I want to skip the con lines. Who's with me?
...Anyone?
Hahaha, oh well. IT'S NOT LIKE I DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH CON-ING SOLO.
And then there is Otakon. Which I would reeeeally like to register for, kind of as soon as possible. Except that this year I am even more totally clueless about who would want to go with me, and what we would do about lodgings, etc.
