I have no explanation for the weirdness of this post. *hangs head*
Right, so. Last Friday, I GOT A HAIRCUT. Like, a real, five-inches-off haircut! MY FIRST HAIRCUT. Unfortunately, it was without my consent, so uh, the shock was so great that I got sick immediately after.
Actually, what happened was, I knew my hair was a mess. I hadn't gotten it trimmed since... before I went to college. ^^; It was looking ragged at the edges, to say the least. ^^;;; So, I unthinkingly told the hairdresser to just "trim off the weird bits" and that somehow translated to "Cut! Hack! Sheer!"
It looks nice (I guess), and its still past my shoulders, but GOD, IT'S SHORT. I really didn't realize how much my long hair figured into my nervous habits until suddenly the key extra inches were gone. I have been in a continual state of agitation since the incident. It's no wonder I fell ill.
I came back from the hair appointment, and my nose was a literal faucet by dinner. I hate faucet noses. THEY SERVE NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER; IT'S JUST THE IMMUNE SYSTEM OVERCOMPENSATING FOR ITS OWN SHORTCOMINGS. Fortunately, except for some touchy moments with a slight fever, it was probably the worst symptom, for which I suppose I should be grateful.
I got to do lots of fun I've-been-confined-to-my-bed-and-am-trying-to-not-go-insane things like fail at reading and play FreeCell more than is healthy for anyone, both of which probably only served to agitate/depress my self/immune system further. Towards the end, I put Rent (the movie) on repeat and watched it about six times, plus twice more with commentary, plus about half with French subtitles. I don't care what people say, this movie is good. Not great, but wholly and lastingly good.
I also caught up with Tsubasa and Ouran Koukou Host Club. And downloaded a stupid amount of yaoi. And created a hundred-song playlist of my current laptop-only favorites (i.e. songs on my laptop that were saved from the wiping of my e-drives). This list is so crazy weird, I cannot even justify it with the fever excuse. It has "Boogie Wonderland" on it! And "Walk Like An Egyptian!" And "Girls Just Want To Have Fun!" It also has The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Bump of Chicken, Rilo Kiley, Maximo Park, Muse, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Morrissey, some choirs, and various college a capella groups. It is a cornucopia of eclecticism!
I started feeling better just in time to do one last movie with my friends yesterday. We saw 27 Dresses which was, overall, about as good as we thought it would be. The plot was as surprisingly mediocre (even for a romcom, it was predictable and lazy) as the performances of the leads were surprisingly strong. I never really appreciated James Marsden. I thought he was a pretty kind of okay. THIS MOVIE CHANGED MY MIND SO HARD AND FAST, I AM TEMPTED TO MAKE TEN DOLLAR WHORE JOKES, HAHAHA. God. "Bennie and the Jets" will never be the same for me again. 27 Dresses had its moments, and those moments are enough to make me want to see it again, but I am the kind of girl to which these romcoms pander. See at your own discretion.
And then today I moved back into the dorms. Hello again, NYC. One of my New Year's Resolutions was to take advantage of the city more, so let's see how that goes!
Uh, and I'm starving. Going to go make a sandwich now. Extra-crunchy peanut butter, how I've missed you!

Is catching up on Tsubasa worth it? I don't think I've read since Fai became a vampire. I feel like I've missed too much and I only ever hear about wank re: spoilers.

Are you back yet? We should go see it. We could invite Paige and make it a very belated birthday celebration, as well as a last hurrah before we are sucked once more into the vortex of academia.
Re: Tsubasa. That, uh, depends on your tolerance for completely inexplicable and somewhat cracktastical plot twists. Cloned!Syaoran, eyeball theft, and vampire!Fai were only the beginning. Though one of the twists involves seeing Fai as a child, and let me tell you, ickle!Fai is not to be missed, if only for the d'aww factor.

Tsubasa became cracktastic and inexplicable? Wow, what a surprise. It started out with a cracktastic premise, so at least it's living up to its potential. I want to catch up but I don't know. I am trying to read less manga and learn more Japanese.
