I actually have a lot to talk about, but it is 4 in the morning and I have class in 6 hours, so I'll just give the fandom news run down.

Fandoms Entered in Last 6 Weeks

1. Avatar. Ahaha, I fought this for soooo long, but I really can't imagine why. I was originally an early adapter, but I got busy on Fridays and gave it up, yet I kept hearing about the latest episodes on my FList. So one Friday I was thinking about how I kind of missed it and that somehow led to spending the rest of the weekend watching and joining communities. FTR, Sokka owns my soul.

2. True Tears. I finished La Corda D'Oro, so I needed another really gratuitous anime to fill the void. Enter True Tears, where within two seconds of watching the first episode I screamed, "SOOOAAAAAP," and it only went on from there. "WE HAVE ACHIEVED INCEST!"

3. Princess Princess and it's prequels. Okay, this is another one I fought, mostly due to a misunderstanding of the plot. I thought it was some kind of weird cross-dressing club--like ParaKiss, but with many Isabellas. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? I ended up reconsidering the series because of The Day of Revolution. Gender bending taken to the next level, yay! And then I fell madly in love with Mikoto. And Akira's family via Family Complex. And Tohru and Yuujirou in PuriPuri, but nobody has scans of the last three volumes so I'm not done yet. NEED. WANT. MUST GO BUY. Anyone have thoughts on the drama? Does seeing men cross-dressing IRL destroy the manga/anime's veneer of unmanly cuteness? Speaking of destroying the veneer of unmanly cuteness, I could have gone my whole life without knowing what futanari was. Yes, indeed.

ALSO, HISTORY DORKS MUST READ THESE COMICS. A TEASER: GANGSTA POPE.

Also, writing about Paradise Lost makes me want to rip out vital organs. That may be my period talking, but I seriously doubt it.

Avatar, yay! And you are right, Sokka pimp-bending is totally FTW. Did you watch the currently Canadian-only episodes (12-13), too?

Which is True Tears? We have some figures we sell at work that I think involve the word "tears" in the title and are pretty, but I have no idea if they're this or some other thing entirely (and am too lazy to actually look). Would I like this show?

Hee, Princess Princess. I've only seen the first two episodes because I was distracted by... I dunno, House?... at the time, but what amused me most about that show was it's utter lack of gayness despite all expectations. Is Mikoto the one who didn't want to be a princess and was only doing it for the money? Who actually had a girlfriend? (As opposed to the slutty one and the one who was new.)

Speaking of futanari, every year I type up the descriptions for the dating games, and every year I regret hitting urban dictionary to try and remember what futanari means. I keep getting it confused with tsundere for some very odd reason. (No idea why, since they're in no way related.)

Pimp-bending! YES! And yup, I'm all caught up and looking forward to The Boiling Rock. :)

I went looking for True Tears (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6257) because I saw some icons that looked pretty (the main character is quietly good-looking and the general production values are A+++). Ostensibly, the main character is going through his RL and using it as inspiration for this comic he's trying to write. I can't even begin to explain the plot. Suffice to say, it revolves around tears, and thus is dark and twisty. Except when it is about chickens, and then it is kind of shiny and cute. Lots of unrequited love in lots of weird and taboo places. I did say it was a soap. Works well as a guilty pleasure though, especially since it's so pretty looking.

Mikoto is indeed the one with the girlfriend (he doesn't want to do it at all; the "new one," Tohru, is doing it for the money). Except his girlfriend used to be a BOY, HAHAHA. He/she is the main character of The Day of Revolution, where he finds out that he is biologically female (intersexual or some such, it's actually scientific) and decides to have the operation to become a girl. But when he comes back to school after the procedure, all his/her old guy friends start chasing after her. It is awesome. Mikoto shows up in the second volume and basically steals the show with his pure and earnest heart. Oh yes, indeed. ♥♥♥

The anime is really not that great when compared with the manga, which is prettier and more awesome. Also, the manga is more heavy on the sho-ai hints (although there is no actual development). From what I've read and watched of the drama (1 1/2 episodes), that's the version that brings the most gay (Mikoto is even girlfriend-less in it).

AGH, futanari. I found a scanlated doujin, and there was this note about how they'd found it in a futanari bin, so I got curious about what that was and got squicked. Then I downloaded the doujin anyway because they ARE guys, but UGH, NO. It was totally futanari style. SQUICK TO THE MAX. ONLY IN JAPAN.

Have you seen the Avatar chibi shorts? Because they are made of win. There's also a great video on Youtube somewhere of the writers at a con talking about the ships. (When they tease us with season trailers, its apparently deliberate. Bastards.)

Oh, that True Tears. I dunno if I'll get into it, but we'll probably get the DVDs in, so... maybe?

I'd forgotten about Day of the Revolution. I'll have to actually get around to reading those after all. ^-^

I have seen them. They're awesome. I cannot find this interview, though. *sadface*

Really. Don't bother. It is not that good.

DAY OF REVOLUTION IS THOUGH, SO READ IT.
