Let's just put it out there that I'm weird.

I've been playing a lot of tetris lately, and God's truth, it's gotten to the point where I see tetris scenarios every time I blink. And you know, I keep thinking that this is what it must be like to be a Go pro. To have tsumego, life and death problems, burned into the backs of your eyelids. It's insane! They go through their whole lives like this! I need to write fic!

Also, I'm finally reading Havemercy, and so far it is amazing. Haven't quite decided on a favorite character--the cast listing is atrociously long--but I've already got a ship, which satisfies me in my fangirlish heart.

Also the second, I've finished my paper on "leaving behind heteronormativity in Conrad's Heart of Darkness," which I've taken to affectionately calling "that piece of shit paper where I diss my own sex and shamelessly display my love for gay men." But I got an A on the first draft, so hopefully that will carry over. One more paper left, due over reading week, about nostalgia in émigrés for my European complit class and then I have three finals in two days and then I am OUT of this godforsaken place that I will miss horribly within an hour of arriving home for the summer. I hate that I already know how that will go.

i too am suffering the tetris effect. roar

I just finished Havemercy! I liked it a lot - as probably evidenced by the fact that I finished it in a day, to the detriment of all my other work. *headdeak* Though when I started, I was expecting more dragons and more gay sex. How far are you?

D: Finishing it before me! Whatevs dude. I'm on chapter like, three, but I'm doing notes and stuff for the email I'm sending Dani and Jaida, which means that rightfully I should be on chapter six. :/

I basically just met Havemercy and now she and Rook are flying~~.

Don't tell me about shipping. Even if there isn't any actual romance. Let me keep my hopes alive. I've been amusing myself trying to make up ship names. Right now I'm hardcore shipping Royal (oh, I amuse myself) and giddily shipping Rook/everyone (knock him of his high horse, why dontcha!). My favorite name right now (outside of Royal of course) is Room, but there are other awesome combinations to be made! DON'T SPOIL ME, OMG. LEAVE ME TO MY DELUSIONS.

You realize we must establish the nomenclature, right? We read it first. If we act quickly, we will be miles ahead of the fandom that will inevitably develop!

[identity profile] splintercat.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
I did not spoil anything! I would expect more dragons and more gay sex no matter how much of either there actually ended up being. I spoiled exactly nothing but please finish because omg I have to tell you about how my predictions kept getting pulled around.

THERE IS NO COMM, BTW. We could, uh, make one. If that wouldn't be, uh, weird. Some idiot is using the journal name havemercy, but I think we should take that as a sign to come up with a clever, reference-to-something-in-the-novel type comm name. Like [livejournal.com profile] thremedon? Or [livejournal.com profile] thebasquiat? I kind of like [livejournal.com profile] thebasquiat though I am still kind of baffled as to how to pronounce that. Anyway, seriously, let's start a little fandom here.

I didn't mean you'd already spoiled me. Just wanted to head off any cheeky, half spoilery comments you might make in response to my wild imaginings.

At the mo, I'm more partial to [livejournal.com profile] thremedon, but then again, I'm only on chapter five. Also, now that I've fiished chapter four, if that the good ship Royal doesn't sail I shall be devastated. The fact that this is a problem after only four chapters is an ominous sign of growing obsession. OTP, dude.

Also, you need to read Shoebox, if only so that I can squee at you about how Thom and Hal are basically Remus pulled apart into two separately awesome beings.

Also, what the hell are you doing still up at this hour? Sleep, chile!

[identity profile] splintercat.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] thremedon fits better, but [livejournal.com profile] thebasquiat looks nicer to me? Actually, yeah, [livejournal.com profile] thremedon fits much better overall.

I hate name smoosh ship names, but I might warm up to Royal. ALSO ROOM. hahaha.

What are you still doing up at this hour? Hmm? HMM?

The awesomeness of Room is that if you were inclined to OT3, it could be Balroom which is like, the most awesomely gay thing ever.

OBVIOUSLY, I am READING.

Also, the horrifying thing about this name smooshing business is that it is going into my notes as the thoughts occur to me, and I'm taking these notes in the draft of the email I'm going to eventually send. I feel that some censoring is going to have to take place. Otherwise, I might have to feel sorry for poor Dani and Jaida, having my madness inflicted on them in one of their earliest reviews.

[identity profile] splintercat.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
DUDE, IT'S POSSIBLE YOU DIDN'T HEAR THIS, but:

Jaida and Dani supposedly coming to CUSFS this week? Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tmartian42, who asked at the bequest of [livejournal.com profile] eva_kasumi. Or there was a board email to that effect. So you can inflict your madness on them in person!

I intend to inflict EALAC madness on Jaida, actually.

Of course I didn't hear it, but I'm excited!

...Do you think I should/could invite some shoeboxers?

[identity profile] splintercat.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
To CUSFS? I don't see why not! CUSFS is always trying to recruit new victims.

SORRY I am busting up in your thread like a total .... buster-upper. Because I got your email! And I was like, omg! And then I had a little moment where I cried, and then Dani cried, but it was all totally good tears, many of them, and now I am in lecture but writing this comment, please forgive me. ANYWAY I just wanted to say, I am looking so so so forward to talking to you tonight and also, bring some people! Since there's that whole bit in the front of the book about the shoeboxers and how much I love them and how my life would not be as it is today were it not for them etc.

Hi.

Sorry for the busting up.

Hi.

Hearing about how I made you guys cry has made me all misty myself. This is not a good situation. I mean, obviously it is a great situation, but tears are awkward to explain when you were surreptitiously checking your emails from your cell phone in class.

...how much I love them and how my life would not be as it is today were it not for them etc.

Many shoeboxers would say the same things about you. ♥

[identity profile] ladyjaida.livejournal.com 2008-04-30 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
WELL I will be seeing you tonight! Hahahah any suggestions on what to read? Or how to read, for that matter....

To be honest. I did not know. That there were actually. More than just one or two occasional shoeboxy folks here.

Do I live under a rock or WHAT.

[identity profile] splintercat.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Done.

ahahaha.

Another reason I'm not as far along as I could be is that I have to stop ever ten pages or so to play tetris. IT'S AN ADDICTION, OH MY GOD.

[identity profile] bookshop.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)

I didn't even know that Havemercy was published yet! Or have I totally missed something and you got hold of an ARC? Argh.

I got an ARC at NYCC. One of the sweetest surprises of the weekend. :)

Hello! Uh. I just read your email! And now I am weeping but in a REALLY GOOD WAY I promise also we will totally see you tonight at CUSFS right? Right! Because I totally wish to talk to you more (or perhaps just blither at you insanely about how much I loved your email, ahaha.)

I'm so so glad you liked it and did not think it was scary fangirl ranting (haha, the first draft, let's not talk about it) because I certainly thought it was scary fangirl ranting and did not want to send it. But it was from the heart, and I thought you guys deserved to see the love that was in there, because there was a lot of it even if it was sort of mixed up with the crazy. I'm especially glad you guys like Royal because I cannot call them anything else now, and it would be terrible to know that you didn't approve.

We can just blither insanely at each other, since I'm not likely to fare much better. ♥

OH MY GOD, DON'T LOOK YET. SO MANY LAYOUT ISSUES STILL TO CONQUER.
